About Matthew

Life in Pittsburgh

About Pittsburgh Matthew moved to Pittsburgh in 2000 to attend graduate school. Heather followed in 2002. Here's more about Pittsburgh.
Eating Out Heather and I enjoy eating out at various places in Pittsburgh. Here's a list of some of the places we've tried.
Cooking Even though I couldn't cook anything in college, I now cook quite a lot with the help of some cookbooks. Here are some of my favorite cookbooks.

Activities

Theta Tau I am an alumnus of Kappa Beta chapter of Theta Tau Professional Engineering Fraternity. Theta Tau is the largest engineering fraternity in the United States. Even though I changed majors to economics, I valued the professional development and friendships that I had gained from Theta Tau. During my involvement with Kappa Beta, I served an unprecedented two terms as the treasurer of the chapter. I currently serve on the Theta Tau Executive Council as the Grand Treasurer.
Eamon I am the webmaster of a website based on the single player interactive fiction game "Eamon" which was developed for the Apple II. This page includes information on my very own adventure "The Sword of Inari". You can play it now on Java!
Wikipedia I enjoying editing on Wikipedia. If you've never tried it, I encourage you to check it out. Wikipedia allows you to write any article that would normally appear in an encyclopedia. Its a great resource and is surprisingly accurate. To see what I've been up to lately, click here.
MIDI I've programmed a few of my favorite songs onto MIDI files. Click here to hear them!

Travel

Travel I enjoy traveling although I don't get to do it nearly as often as I would like. Here are some of the trips I've taken outside of the United States.
Czech Republic Flag of Czech Republic During the summer of 1994, Matthew was an exchange student with Youth For Understanding to the Czech Republic. He lived in a city called Orlova which is situated between Ostrava and the Polish border, and had the opportunity to visit Poland, Slovakia, Austria, and Germany on my first trip overseas. Some day, we'll get around to scanning my pictures in, and post them online.
Finland Flag of Finland In the spring of 1999, Matthew studied at Turun Kauppakorkeakoulu, the Turku School of Economics and Business Administration, in Turku, Finland. While he was in Europe, he had the opportunity to visit Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Russia, Denmark, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, Czech Republic, and Poland. See pictures here.
Canada Flag of Canada In July 2000, Heather and I took a trip to Toronto, Ontario. We stayed in a cozy bed and breakfast and loved every minute of it. We celebrated Canada Day from the top of the CN tower, toured the Toronto Islands by bicycle, and stopped over at Niagara Falls on our way home. See pictures here.
Jamaica Flag of Jamaica In August 2002, Heather and I celebrated our honeymoon at the Grand Lido Sans Souci resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. See pictures here.
